For the patient's relatives
The environment of intensive care is distressing and hard to understand

Intensive care is a highly technological environment
The patient is surrounded by machines that are complex to interpret
Alarms frequently go off
to alert the medical staff about the patients' condition changes
The patient themselves seems different
Often asleep, fitted with tubes and catheters, their appearance can be unsettling for their loved ones

INTENSIVE CARE IS ALSO TRAUMATIC FOR RELATIVES

A suspended phase
The uncertainty inherent in an ICU stay makes it an especially difficult time to endure
One in two relatives is likely to develop post-traumatic stress
or symptoms of anxiety and depression
In case of the patient's death
Relatives are at risk of developing complicated grief

To improve the experience of families and loved ones, it is essential to enhance their understanding and support them as well during this difficult time.

THE GOAL OF LIFEMAPP

Studies show that a good understanding of the ICU environment and the patient's condition can help reduce the psychological impact of the ICU experience on patients and their loved ones.

Optimizing communication with relatives is essential, but it’s often a challenge for healthcare workers whose time and resources dedicated to this aspect are limited. One O One developed LIFEMAPP with the aim of facilitating this communication. LIFEMAPP is a web app that explains what ICU is and provides advice for better coping during the ICU stay. Intensive care units can register on LIFEMAPP and customize a page dedicated to their service with all specific information: phone numbers, visiting hours, etc.

LIFEMAPP is also designed for patients, helping them understand what they have experienced. A post-ICU section provides advice for supporting the patient's recovery and helping them regain autonomy.

Lifemapp is:

> A personalized space to present your ICU
> A comprehensive informative welcome booklet: presentation of the ICU room, practical advice, stress management, etc.
> A guide to prepare for discharge: discharge steps, advice for patients and their loved ones
